Are you tired of seemingly random calls from unknown numbers? Google is rolling out a new feature that helps reveal why a business calls.
The verified calls feature will display the caller’s name, company logo, reason for the call, and a verification symbol indicating that the participating company has been authenticated by Google.
According to a blog post, this feature works by requiring participating companies to submit specific details, such as their phone number, phone number, and reason for calling, to the tech giant’s dedicated server, which is then forwarded to their server. device. Google Phone application.
When you receive your call, your device compares the information from the incoming call with the information Google received from the company and, if it matches, the Telephone the application displays the call as a verified call.
Google Product Manager Gal Vered assured that the company does not collect or store any personally identifiable information after verification.
Vered said that Verified Calls had been in pilot for a few months, and early results indicated that it improved the likelihood that someone would answer a call.
“Businesses often rely on phone calls to reach new customers and serve existing ones. But here’s the problem: customers often don’t answer the call if they don’t recognize the number, ”he said on the Google blog.
For example, a bank that calls to alert a customer to a potential fraudulent transaction could increase response rates simply by stating why they are calling, Vered said.
Similarly, logistics or food delivery companies could also get the same improved pickup rate when they indicated they were calling to make sure customers were available to receive their deliveries.
The technology was based on last year’s Verified SMS feature, which confirmed the identity of the company sending text messages.
Vered said a study in the US and Brazil found that verified SMS increased consumer trust in brands, significantly improving performance on metrics such as likelihood of purchase, brand satisfaction, and likelihood of recommending.
Verified Calls was a new native feature added to the Google Phone , which comes preloaded on most Android phones, and would also be available for download later this week on other Android devices, according to Vered.
Initial deployment would begin in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and India, with more countries to come.
