Recently, there has been a controversy when Chinese netizens got angry when BLACKPINK members were seen interacting with pandas at the Everland Amusement Park Zoo.

BLACKPINK members were seen interacting with pandas in a teaser for their online show ‘24/365 with BLACKPINK‘, which was uploaded on November 3. In the video, BLACKPINK met the baby pandas under the supervision of zookeepers and they were seen touching the pandas.

After the teaser was uploaded, Chinese netizens took to their social media to complain that the members were touching the pandas without gloves and wearing makeup. Several Chinese media outlets have been running articles criticizing the girl group members.

Many Korean netizens got angry because they believed that Chinese netizens were attracting Korean celebrities for no reason. In defense of BLACKPINK, a netizen posted to an online community multiple instances of other Chinese celebrities and individuals from other countries touching baby pandas without gloves.

Many famous people were seen touching the baby pandas that Chinese netizens did not make any trouble on. Korean netizens are furious because they are sure that Chinese netizens seem to be highlighting Korean celebrities.

Netizens commented:

Why are these Chinese netizens doing so much fuss over BLACKPINK? Ugh how annoying. “

“Look, you can even kiss pandas if you pay money.”

“Some of those netizens are so dumb, stop attacking BLACKPINK.”

“These are the Korean celebrities that the Chinese have been attacking -> Lee Hyori, BTS, and now BLACKPINK. They even try to steal Korea’s Hanbok.”

“This ensures that China is jealous that Korea is popular with K-pop.”

“What happens to Chinese netizens?”

“We just have to ignore them.”

“This is silly. What the heck.”

“Look at all the people who touched the pandas without gloves. Why are they just mad at BLACKPINK?”
