KUALA LUMPUR: The appeal filed by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (Photo) against his conviction and sentence in the trial of SRC International Sdn Bhd will be heard on February 15 next year.
The dates for the 12-day hearing were set by the Deputy Clerk of the Court of Appeal, Darmafikri Abu Adam, during the handling of the case in Putrajaya on Thursday (October 1).
The dates set are from February 15 to February 18, from February 22 to February 25, and from March 1 to March 4, 2121.
Deputy District Attorney Mohd Ashraf Adrin Kamaril and Najib’s attorneys, Harvinderjit Singh and Nur Syahirah Hanapiah, were present during the handling of the case.
On July 28, the Pekan deputy was convicted of one count of abuse of power, three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) and three counts of money laundering involving RM42mil from SRC International.
High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali sentenced him to 12 years ‘imprisonment and a fine of RM210,000, failing five years’ imprisonment on the sole charge of abuse of power.
Najib was sentenced to 10 years in jail each for the three CBT counts and three counts of money laundering.
The court ordered the jail time to run concurrently and also allowed a stay of execution pending appeal.
Najib is currently out on RM2mil bail with two guarantees.
