Blackpink’s recent song ‘Ice Cream’ has been trending around the world for days. However, she received mixed reactions from some fans, she has done quite well.
But some Muslim and Christian K-pop fans are expressing their disappointment at the lyrics.
One of the lines in Lisa’s lyrics in the song says “Play the role as Moses (Peace be with him), keep it fresh as roses. “
Moses, also known as Moshe Rabbenu, is the most important prophet in Judaism and an important prophet in Christianity, Islam, the Bahá’í faith, and several other Abrahamic religions.
The lyrics have put Prophet Moses in a sexual way that seems unsettling for the religion.
Fans on Twitter are angered by the lyrics:
Many Muslim fanatics (mainly from Indonesia) angered other Muslims because they said they weren’t offended, even if it was part of their religion. Other Muslims in response to this said:
“Wtf !! Do you love your idols more than your religion? “
“This is not the first time that YG is doing this. And are you still on his side?”
“I hate how so many of you are quiet now because it is our religion. This is not cultural appropriation, this is DEPRECIATION! If it were Black Cultural Appropriation again, you would be angry!”
Bekuh Boom, one of the song’s lyricists, posted this in her story, responding to everyone, although fans are still disappointed and want YG to apologize:
