Muhyiddin to debut today at UNGA as Prime Minister

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) he is set to make his inaugural address, virtually, at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York as Prime Minister of Malaysia later today.

The Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra), in a statement today, said that Muhyiddin, addressing the high-level meeting to mark the 75th anniversary of the UNGA through a pre-recorded video statement, will reaffirm the continued support of Malaysia to the central role played by the United Nations (UN).

“Tan Sri Muhyiddin is prepared to highlight the reforms he needs to adopt to ensure that he remains relevant to addressing today’s global challenges,” the statement read.

According to Wisma Putra, the special one-day meeting is scheduled to adopt the Declaration for the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the UN.

“The declaration signals the collective commitment of member states to multilateralism and to promote partnerships among the community of nations to realize and meet the most urgent needs and aspirations of all humanity,” he said. -Named
