KOTA KINABALU: How Sabahans vote in upcoming polls will determine the future direction of the state, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“When the state elections come, whatever decision the Sabahans make will determine the direction of Sabah in the future.
“As prime minister leading the Perikatan Nasional government, I do not want Sabah to be left behind because Sabah is an important component of Malaysia,” he said during a speech at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC) on Saturday (August 29). ). ).
Muhyiddin, who had referred to Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as his good friend, expressed disappointment that the interim prime minister was not on board with him when he took over as prime minister in March.
“In politics, sometimes we are friends, but the next day we become enemies.
“But when it comes to administration, the state and federal government should have been together,” he said.
Recognizing that Sabah is rich in resources, Muhyiddin said that the state or federal government was not adequate to solve the problems faced by locals.
“If it were given to the state and federal government that have the same fight in Perikatan, maybe many problems can be solved. That is the logic.
“So when the state elections come around, I want everyone to choose wisely, because ensuring that issues related to prosperity and development are my own and the responsibility of state leaders.”
He also said it was good that state elections were called as it gives Sabahans the opportunity to correct any mistakes made in the past.
“It is time that we fix the above situation,” he added.
Sabah will head to its 16th snap election on September 26.
