SANDAKAN: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pix) has called on people to join the government of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in its fight to give the country a better future.

“Not that I am an extraordinary PM, but I face extraordinary challenges like dealing with Covid-19 and its impact on our economy.

“So, I need to make extraordinary decisions. That is why we take extraordinary actions.

“I am also aware that the well-being of the people will suffer if we do not make extraordinary decisions,” he said today at a meeting to meet the people in Taman Mawar.

Malaysia has been recognized as one of the most successful countries in managing the Covid-19 pandemic and for the government’s efforts in implementing various economic stimulus programs worth nearly RM300 billion to help people who have been affected by the impact of the coronavirus.

The prime minister reminded the people of Sabah that the PN government was not a “colonizer” but cared for everyone.

He said that although PN is made up of peninsula-based parties and partners like BN, it has the same goal as its Sabah-based partners like PBS, which is to ensure the future of the people and generations to come.

“The PN government is concerned about people’s problems. This government always cares about the interests of the people.

“We want to strengthen the security aspect in Sabah so that there is no threat to the sovereignty of Sabah … we (the PN government) will also promote development,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a meeting session with the people in Kampung Sim-Sim here, Muhyiddin denied that the government had withdrawn allocations to repair 24 bridges in water villages after taking federal power from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

He dismissed the opposition’s allegation and showed a letter from the Implementation Coordination Unit (UCI) of the Prime Minister’s Department to show that the appropriations would be channeled to the Sandakan City Council.

“I did not ask for the appropriations to be withdrawn (after the PN took office). Checks have been made with the UCI and an allocation of 4.2 million ringgit has been approved, ”said Muhyiddin, President of the PN.

At the ceremony, Muhyiddin delivered the letter, signed by UCI Director General Datuk Nor Azri Zulfakar, to the president of the Sandakan Area Fishermen’s Association, Shaiful Bahari Muin.Named
