PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has called on political leaders to put aside their differences and come together to ensure that the well-being of the people is prioritized, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Muhyiddin said that the political situation in Malaysia throughout 2020 has been challenging to the extent that it has affected investor confidence in the country.

For the new year, he urged political leaders to show maturity, especially in facing these challenging times.

“I hope that other political leaders are responsible and avoid doing anything that could disturb the political stability of the country.

“Right now, it would be nice if we could put aside our political differences and unite for the welfare of the rakyat. We must work together to face this pandemic, ”he said in his New Year’s message.

He also said that efforts to combat corruption will be intensified and that greater emphasis will be placed on transparency and integrity.

“I believe that political stability and good governance will be able to create a conducive business environment and ensure that Malaysia remains an important destination for investors in the Asean region and accelerate the country’s economic recovery.”

He said that since the nation is a prime destination for investors, it could definitely generate more job opportunities that would benefit all Malaysians.

“I think if we work and prioritize rakyat, in return, they will continue to support us,” he added.
