José Mourinho says the close relationship between Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min is the key behind their prolific partnership in the Tottenham attack.

Kane attended Son one more time at Burnley on Monday night like Spurs posted a 1-0 win at Turf Moor.

It is the 29th time the duo have joined a goal in the Premier League, the second-best joint partnership in league history. Only Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (36) are above them.

Y Mourinho has said the bond the two have developed over their five years playing together has carried over to the field, while crediting former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino for the work he did with the pair.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think it is an understanding that comes from Mauricio [Pochettino] time. I don’t want all the credit for myself, let’s share with Mauricio because they have played together for quite some time, probably in a different way.

“Now Harry is not the ‘nine’ or always a ‘nine’ because he gets into some areas that allow Sonny to get into the goal in different areas. His goal was a set piece and he is a bit isolated from contact.

“But what I like the most about Sonny and Harry is that they are two great players, but close friends, without jealousy and [have a] ‘I play for you, you play for me. We both play for the team, we both play for Tottenham ‘ [approach].

“So credit to them. Two great players, two great boys. “
