KEPALA BATAS: Eight men who were busy repairing their own motorcycles in a workshop here have been fined a fine of RM 1,000 each for exceeding the time limit allowed by the conditional motion control order (MCO).
North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said people were fined around 11.30pm at a motorcycle workshop in the Butterworth area by a police team during Ops Covid-19 that aims to ensure compliance with the MCO conditional in the district.
He said the people violated the government-ordered standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent a further outbreak.
“All of them in their 30 years were fined in accordance with Rule 10 (8) of the Regulation for the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) 2020,” he said.
ACP Noorzainy said that during the operation, eight other men also in their 30s received compounds of RM1,000 each for violating the conditional MCO at Kepala Batas and Butterworth.
He said that among the crimes committed were not observing physical distancing, not recording the body temperature and details of his clients or not having the QR code of MySejahtera.
He advised the public to strictly adhere to SOP to avoid being fined, as well as to help the government flatten the infection curve.
