SEREMBANThe administrative committee of the Dato ‘Klana Petra Lela Mohd Yusof mosque in Sikamat here has denied the allegation that a person confirmed as positive for Covid-19 was present to conduct Friday prayers at the mosque yesterday.
According to its acting president, Najib Nubhan Khairuddin, according to controls carried out by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the man was found performing Friday prayers in the mosque last week and not yesterday.
“So the information that is going viral on social media is inaccurate and has caused confusion and fear among people since last night,” he said in a statement here today.
At the same time, he said that so far the mosque was operating as usual as the Health Ministry has not issued any directive to close the mosque after the case.
He said the Health Ministry had carried out disinfection at the mosque yesterday in addition to tracking the individual’s close contacts.
“The administration of the mosque will inform the congregation if there is any more recent instruction from the Ministry of Health asking them to undergo a hyssop test,” he said. –Called
