KUALA LUMPUR: More than half a million ringgit worth compounds were issued to violators of the motion control order (MCO) on Wednesday (October 28), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Photo).
The Chief Minister (Security) said 549 people were detained with two people in pre-trial detention, while 547 received compounds of RM 1,000 for various MCO violations.
“Violations committed include nightclub activities (nine), social distancing violations (79), not wearing masks (188) and failing to provide check-in equipment (154),” it said in a statement Thursday (29 October).
Meanwhile, he said the police-led enforcement operations working group had conducted 46,853 checks to monitor and enforce standard operating procedure (SOP).
“A total of 3,541 supermarkets, 4,640 restaurants, 1,391 street vendors, 1,306 factories, as well as 3,450 banks and 569 government offices were reviewed.
“The working group also verified 929 land transport terminals, 295 water transport terminals and 75 air terminals.
“These controls were carried out by 3,116 teams that involved 10,960 people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that a total of 14 undocumented immigrants were detained while a boat and six vehicles were seized under Ops Benteng.
“A total of 291 barricades were set up to stop the entry of undocumented immigrants by the police, the Malaysian Border Control Agency and the military,” he said.
On sanitation operations of public places carried out by the Fire and Rescue Department and local governments, Ismail Sabri said that 10,874 operations have been carried out since March 30 in 137 areas.
He added that 13,451 premises involving 2,749 business centers, 6,056 government buildings, 1,629 residential areas, 2,663 public places and 354 supermarkets were cleaned up.
He said that 36 sanitation operations were carried out in 13 states on Wednesday: Sabah (nine), Melaka (six), Selangor (five), Penang (five), Johor (two), Sarawak (two) while Terengganu, Pahang , Kedah, Perlis, Putrajaya, Labuan and Kuala Lumpur carried out an operation respectively.
On the mandatory quarantine, Ismail Sabri said 56,699 people had returned to Malaysia between July 24 and October 28.
All of them have been sent to 65 hotels and 17 other venues, including civil training institutes and private learning institutes, for quarantine in places like Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.
“A total of 9,523 people are currently in quarantine, 381 were sent to the hospital for treatment, while 46,795 people were discharged and allowed to return to their homes.
“These people came from 36 countries, including the United States, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Laos, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, Korea. South., Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, Holland, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia, Ethiopia, Maldives, Oman and New Zealand ”, he said.
Ismail Sabri said that compliance staff from the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs also conducted checks on 682 business premises involved in 12 types of supply of essential items.
“The location included 499 retailers, 159 wholesalers and 294 manufacturers.
“They found that the supply of essential items was sufficient and easy to obtain,” he said.
It said law enforcement personnel also reviewed 1,111 facilities, of which 17 were reported for failing to comply with standard operating procedures.
On the inspection of construction sites, Ismail Sabri said that the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) had conducted 12,937 verifications since April at 7,761 construction sites across the country.
He said CIDB enforcement officials reviewed 18 sites of which 17 complied with standard operating procedure while one was not operational.
