More than 200 people arrested for violating the MCO

PETALING JAYA: More than 200 people were arrested by police on Tuesday (December 15) for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Chief Minister said that the police arrested 235 people for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Of the 235 people, he said, 233 were sanctioned with compound fines while two were detained.

“Among the infractions are the lack of provision of equipment to record customer data (82), the wrong way to put on masks (81), non-compliance with the rules of physical distancing (57), and others (15 ), ”It said in a statement on Wednesday (December 16).

As part of Operasi Benteng, Ismail said 40 illegal immigrants and five smugglers were arrested, while seven vehicles and four boats were seized.

Ismail, who is also the defense minister, added that from April 20 to December 15, enforcement staff from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) conducted a total of 13,953 inspections involving 7,988 sites of construction throughout the country.

“Yesterday (Tuesday) law enforcement personnel inspected 20 construction sites across the country, and they all met the SOPs that were established,” he said.

As of July 24, Ismail said that a total of 87,013 people had returned to Malaysia and were placed in 74 hotels and 17 public training institutes, as well as private training institutes located in KL, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah, Labuan, and Melaka.

Of the total, 9,405 people had to undergo the mandatory quarantine process, while 532 people were sent to hospitals for treatment.

“77,076 people have been allowed to return to their homes,” he said.

He added that the controls of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) found that one of the facilities did not comply with SOPs and was given advice to do so.
