COVID-19 | The Ministry of Health reported 1,304 new cases of Covid-19 and a record number of active cases today.
The number of new cases reported today in the Klang Valley regions also exceeded the figure reported in Sabah.
The main indicators, to date, summarized:
- Active cases = 11,822 ↑ (403 more than the previous day)
- Patients in intensive care = 96 ↑ (4 more than the previous day)
- Intubated patients = 39 ↑ (4 more than the previous day)
Sabah was the epicenter of the third Covid-19 wave in the country in recent months.
That changed on November 9 when regions of Peninsular Malaysia began reporting more new cases than Sabah.
Today, new cases in the Klang Valley region amounted to 43.2 percent of the cases reported today versus 42.6 percent of the cases originating from Sabah.
Three groups that emerged from the Klang Valley (Hentian, Tapak Bina Damanlela and Perigi) accounted for 83 percent of the new cases in the territories.
Sabah continued to account for the highest number of deaths from Covid-19 in the country.
A new death reported today in Sabah. The cumulative number of deaths from Covid-19 for Sabah is 166 or 54.61 percent of the national total (304).
The victim is a 70-year-old Malaysian national who passed away in Tuaran Hospital.
Of the 1,304 new cases reported, only four were import cases. A breakdown of the remaining cases involving local transmission is as follows:

During a daily press conference today, Health Director General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the Health Ministry has classified four new groups.
The largest was Bonggaya, which involved Sabah’s Sandakan district, where 46 cases have so far been attributed to this group.
Index cases were detected during the community assessment conducted on October 27.
The Jambatan B group involved the same district and 53 cases so far. The index case had reported symptoms on October 17.
Abell’s group involved the Kuching district in Sarawak. The index case was detected after voluntarily undergoing a Covid-19 test. So far, 14 cases have been attributed to this group.
The BMU group involved the Jasin district in Malacca. The index case reported symptoms on November 11. So far, 10 cases have been attributed to this group.
