Mokhzani appointed President of Maxis effective April 22

KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has been appointed as the new chairman of Maxis Bhd effective April 22, the telecommunications group said today.

The appointment comes when its current president, Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, decides to resign after 11 years of presiding over the company since its listing in 2009.

“It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as President of Maxis for 11 years, working alongside my fellow board members to guide the company in its incredible transformation from a leading mobile player to the leading provider of converged solutions in the country. “Arshad said in a statement.

“I think the time has come to hand over the chairmanship to a younger board member, and I congratulate Tan Sri Mokhzani on his appointment.

“He is a highly experienced corporate and entrepreneurial leader who knows the telecommunications industry well, having served on the board of directors for a number of years and on various board committees.

“I am confident that with the continued support and commitment of everyone at Maxis, the company will grow increasingly under his leadership,” added Arshad.
