TANJUNG MALIM: The police recorded the statements of three of the family members of Datuk Dr. Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali regarding the investigation of the minister’s breach of self-quarantine.

The Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities said that, apart from him, his family members registered their statements in Bukit Aman on the same day as him on Thursday (August 27).

The Kuala Nerus MP said he was satisfied with the investigations carried out and urged people to allow the police to do their job.

“I was in Bukit Aman from 8:45 to 22:45.

“But let’s leave it to the police,” he told reporters when he met at Dewan Tan Sri Ghazali Jawi in Slim River near here on Friday (August 28).

“And unlike some of the news that was reported, it was the first time that I went to Bukit Aman to give my statement,” he said.

He also had his statement registered in Parliament on Wednesday (August 26).

On 7 August, the Ministry of Health fined Khairuddin 1,000 ringgit for violating the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act of 1998 (Act 342).

Police Inspector General Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador had said that the police had opened an investigative document on the minister for failing to observe the mandatory home quarantine order after returning from Turkey on 7 July.

Khairuddin said he also told police about his trip to Turkey.

“It was a semi-formal trip, where I negotiated a project in Terengganu.

“We also had meetings with industrial players in Turkey together with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council to discuss the possibility of exporting palm oil,” he said, adding that at least 300,000 tonnes of palm

the oil would be imported to Greece and some Balkan countries through a hub in Turkey.

Khairuddin said the investigation has not affected his work.

“I will continue to do my job and have already issued my apologies.

“I have returned my salary from May to August as a contribution to the Covid-19 national fund of the Ministry of Health,” he said.

“It was a human error,” he added.
