PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health is considering developing criteria and action plans for green areas to prevent Covid-19 infection from coming from red areas.

Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said such action plans would include guidance on the dos and don’ts to prevent the spread of the virus in green areas at the district and state levels.

“In Sarawak, for example, roadblocks have already started to prevent people from Kuching, which is a red zone, from going to other districts,” he said yesterday at a Covid-19 press conference at the Health Ministry. here.

Dr. Noor Hisham also advised the public to avoid “balik kampung” if possible.

Sometimes one is not sure whether the person is a carrier of the Covid-19 virus or not, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said that preventing the balik kampung exodus at this time is also one of the ways to protect the elderly who are among the high-risk groups for Covid-19.

The elderly and those with comorbid health problems such as hypertension and diabetes have antibodies that are not as strong as the young, he said.

He added that one of the considerations for protecting green areas is to use detection and testing, including the antigen from the rapid test kit (RTK).

On the sharp increase in positive cases among workers at Top Glove factories in Klang, Selangor, Dr. Noor Hisham assured people in the area that the ministry is actively tracking close contacts.

“This is to identify if there are new cases among non-employees of the glove factories. Factories have also been ordered to close in stages and we will screen 13,000 of Top Glove’s workers. We hope to contain the spread of the infection, ”he said.

Dr. Noor Hisham also explained that the situation is still under control due to the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order since November 17 in the town.

“All the positive cases have been admitted to the hospital and their close contacts have been quarantined to prevent infections,” he said.

On Covid-19 prevention measures among flood victims, he said the ministry had developed a Covid-19 prevention and management guide at flood relief centers to stop the outbreak.

He said Covid-19 detection is done if there is a positive case or close contact.Called
