Ministry to investigate complaints about unlicensed electronic call drivers

Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said that all electronic call drivers must take a professional examination to obtain the PSV license before they can offer the service.

SANDAKAN: Authorities will investigate allegations that some drivers were offering electronic calling services without having a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said.

He said appropriate action would be taken if the allegations were found to be true.

This measure is necessary to protect the well-being of licensed email drivers and ensure the safety of passengers, he said.

“I met wiretap drivers in Sandakan and one of the issues they raised was competition from wiretap services that supposedly allow easy driver registration through phone apps and the use of false identities.

“If the allegations are true, I will order the Department of Road Transport and the Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board to carry out checks and the necessary follow-up actions,” he told reporters after meeting with the drivers who called by email. here last night.

Wee emphasized that email drivers needed to take a professional exam to get the PSV license before they could offer the service.
