KUALA LUMPUR: Chief Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (pix) today he clarified his statement on projects under the ministry that have received approval for direct negotiation during the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration.
In a statement, he said that some of the projects have not yet been issued with offer letters, while some are still in the process of negotiation.
Among the projects of concern are Phase 1 of Sarawak – Sabah Link Road (SSLR) worth 1.2 billion ringgit; Central Spine Road Package (CSR) (packages 4A and 4B) worth RM808.8 million; two ruined school projects in Sarawak worth RM27.1 million; and two bridges (Baram and Lubok Antu) in Sarawak worth RM9 million.
“The Letter of Intent has been issued for two projects and we have sent it to the Ministry of Finance for cancellation, and a re-evaluation must be carried out so that the projects can be carried out through open bidding. These involve the bridge projects in Baram and Lubok Antu.
“The Ministry of Works of the current government is also consistent in respecting the decision made by the PH government, such as the termination of the Project Delivery Partner contract for the Pan Borneo highway,” he said.
Fadillah added that the ministry also decided that any prior decisions on direct negotiation projects would be referred to the finance ministry for consideration.
On Wednesday (August 26), Fadillah said that some projects from the Ministry of Public Works were among 101 projects worth RM6.61 billion allegedly awarded through direct negotiations by the previous government.
However, today he explained that the list issued by the Minister of Finance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, referred to projects that have been finalized and issued with offer letters. – Named
