PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Transport will not issue any statement on claims that a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane, which is involved in a legal fight in the UK, was detained by Malaysian authorities on Friday (Jan 15 ).
“In view of the fact that the aircraft is detained while it awaits the inter-party judicial procedures established for January 24, the ministry will not issue a statement out of respect for the ongoing legal process,” it said in a statement.
In a statement the previous Friday, a PIA spokesperson confirmed that the PIA plane was detained by a local court in Malaysia over a legal dispute between PIA and another party pending in UK courts.
The spokesman said the court’s decision was a “unilateral decision related to a legal dispute,” adding that the situation was unacceptable and that the airline was seeking the support of the Pakistani government to raise the matter diplomatically.
He did not say where the plane was located or give details of the court case.
