KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Ministry of Higher Education will collaborate with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to educate students at higher education institutions on social issues and cybersecurity.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad said the move was necessary so that appropriate measures could be taken to address the problem of students who allegedly used web applications to participate in “sugar daddy” search activities.
“The ministry today held discussions with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission regarding issues that have recently affected the reputation of universities and students.
“Both parties also agreed to take some steps to address this problem,” Noraini said in a Facebook post on Monday (February 15).
Meanwhile, MCMC had blocked the sugarbook.com website that was allegedly used by students to connect with Sugar Dads.
The website is blocked because its content violates the laws of this country and access to the site is also restricted under Section 263 (2) of the Communications and Multimedia Act of 1998. – Bernama
