PETALING JAYA: Three new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in the country: two in Sabah and one in Kuala Lumpur, says Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Buang Sayang cluster was detected in Sipitang, Sabah, and the index case traveled to the city from September 7 to 20.
The person had symptoms of fever, flu and a sore throat on September 19 and tested positive for the disease a day later.
Active case detection and ten close contacts were evaluated, and four people tested positive while six are still awaiting results.
Meanwhile, the Kg Sakong group was detected in Semporna, Sabah and the index case was detected through community screening.
In the additional screening of 66 people, nine tested positive, while 57 are still awaiting test results.
The Setapak cluster was detected in Setapak, and the index case traveled to Tawau and Semporna in Sabah from September 17-20.
The index case had a fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and diarrhea since September 21 and was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital on September 25.
Additionally, active case detection and screening of 20 close contacts recorded three positive cases, 16 negative cases, while one was still awaiting the test result.
Two of the roommates in the index case also tested positive for Covid-19.
Measures to prevent and control the spread of infection, such as disinfection and cleaning processes, are being carried out at all identified locations for all clusters, “said Dr. Noor Hisham in a statement on Sunday (September 27) .
