KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health has identified 605 locations that will be used as vaccination centers for the Covid-19 immunization program, which is scheduled to begin later this month.
According to the Manual of the National Covid-19 Immunization Program published by the Special Committee for the Guarantee of Access to the Supply of Covid-19 Vaccines (JKJAV), temporary vaccine centers such as stadiums, convention centers, public corridors, universities and Adequate facilities would also be opened as needed and locations would be updated from time to time.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will arrive in Malaysia on Sunday while the implementation of the immunization program will take place in stages starting on February 26.
At the same time, 54 locations will be converted into vaccine storage centers.
“The process of delivering and storing vaccines in these places involves integrated operations of various agencies such as the Ministry of Health, the armed forces and other security forces.
“To date, the Ministry of Health has successfully conducted a vaccine trial at the Belaga health clinic in the interior of Sarawak and at the Bintulu Hospital from January 29 to 30 as detailed preparation before the immunization process begins. ”According to the manual.
Meanwhile, he said the vaccine will only cause mild and temporary side effects, such as pain and swelling at the injection site, tiredness, headache, chills, joint pain and fever.
The manual added that post-immunization adverse event monitoring (AEFI) will be implemented through “enhanced surveillance” whereby vaccine recipients will receive scheduled notifications and reminders through the MySejahtera app to report any issues.
The AEFI report can also be submitted by health personnel through the existing system and serious cases will be carefully investigated. To do this, a special expert committee has been created to assess cases and safety issues related to the Covid-19 vaccine.
The National Covid-19 Vaccination Program will be implemented in an integrated manner with personnel from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Security Forces and the private sector, as well as volunteers.
Meanwhile, the registration of volunteers and information about the vaccination program can be obtained on the special website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
To help the community understand the details of the program, various sectors, including the local authority, will carry out advocacy and support services.
In this sense, the local authority plays a role in building the confidence of the local community in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, in addition to assisting in logistical matters at the mobile vaccine center according to the needs of the community.
