PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health announced today that a Central Region Covid-19 Unified Command Center has been established to monitor administrative matters and operations in all hospitals, as well as in the low-risk quarantine treatment centers in the Klang Valley.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said this was to control the rise in Covid-19 infections in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

He said the command center was established with the help of the National Security Council (MKN) and will be led by Selangor’s health director, Dr. Sha’ari Ngadiman.

Noor Hisham added that the Ministry of Health was increasing bed capacity in eight health facilities across the Klang Valley, following the high number of Covid-19 patients occupying many beds at Sungai Buloh Hospital and Kuala Lumpur Hospital. (HKL).

“The number of beds in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (for Covid-19 patients) has increased by almost 14 times, from 345 beds on October 1 to 4,739 beds as of today (November 18),” he said. .

This includes the temporary conversion of the Rehabilitasi Cheras Hospital into a “Covid-19 hybrid hospital” and the use of eight blocks from the Ministry of Health’s training institute in Sg Buloh as low-risk quarantine treatment centers.

Meanwhile, he said the ministry was also increasing projections at construction sites and factories, following more groups involving these two types of workplaces.

Noor Hisham had previously said that the increase in Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley was due to clusters in the workplace, with 72 clusters active in the country involving infections among workers.

The largest active workplace group is currently the Damanlela Construction Site group, which has registered eight new cases today. This brought the total number of infections in the group to 1,346.
