PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia confirmed 111 Covid-19 infections on Friday (September 25), making this the second time in a week that the number of new cases has tripled.
Sabah recorded the highest number of new cases with 97 new infections, Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement on Friday (September 25).
The Bangau-Bangau group in Semporna had a peak of 74 new infections, bringing its total to 134 cases.
The Benteng Lahad Datu (LD) group, the largest active group in the country, had an additional 13 new cases. In total, the cluster has produced 743 cases.
In Kedah, the Sungai group saw another seven new cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said that of the 111 new cases in the country, 107 are local transmissions, while four are imported cases.
Malaysia’s cumulative total of cases since the outbreak began is now 10,687.
The country also discharged 30 Covid-19 patients, meaning that the total number of people who have recovered so far is 9,696 or 90.7%.
There were no new deaths and the death toll remained at 133.
The number of active cases in the country is now 858.
Four people are in intensive care and three of them require respiratory assistance.
