PETALING JAYA: The head of the MCA’s Department of Complaints and Public Services, Datuk Seri Michael Chong, has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently self-isolating at home.

According to Chong, he got tested for Covid-19 after several of his friends who attended a meeting with him on December 26, had experienced various symptoms related to Covid-19.

“My friends called me three days ago and asked if I had any symptoms because many of them had experienced symptoms.

“I am tired but I still feel good. So my friends and I got tested and on Wednesday (December 30) it was confirmed that I have Covid-19.

“They told me to be in isolation and if there were any symptoms, only I would be hospitalized,” he told The Star on Friday (December 31).

Despite being infected with Covid-19, Chong, who seemed very upbeat, said that members of the public can still contact him if they have any problems, because he will be working from home.

“I will work from home because there are people who still need my advice,” he said, adding that the MCA Complaints and Public Services Department on the seventh floor of Wisma MCA has been disinfected.

Chong also advised Malaysians to be responsible and get tested for Covid-19 if there is any suspicion.

“If you go to a function and someone has tested positive for Covid-19, get tested even if you have no symptoms.

“He’s just responsible for doing it, rather than being a silent carrier and infecting more people.”
