Mercedes-Benz recently introduced its new GLB range of compact SUVs and included a sportier AMG variant called the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic. With more power and a sportier design, the GLB 35 4Matic is the most powerful version of the GLB on the market, but it misses out on a feature found in non-AMG variants.
Unlike the GLB 200 and GLB 250, the GLB 35 does not come with a third row. This means that it can only accommodate up to five occupants instead of seven, as in the non-AMG variants. But if you value performance over seating capacity, the GLB 35 may be what you’re looking for.
Based on the AMG line, the new GLB 35 4Matic is distinguished by its Panamericana front grille, used for the first time on a 35 series model. Throughout the exterior there are recognizable AMG elements, such as a prominent rear apron with two exhaust tips. round wheels and an AMG roof spoiler.
The GLB 35 4Matic rides on AMG 5-twin-spoke 20 ”wheels painted in tantalite gray. Silver brake calipers and black AMG lettering at the front provide more visual detail.
Under the hood is the GLB 35’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that’s paired with an AMG Speedshift 8G dual-clutch transmission (DCT). As the name implies, it is powered by an AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Mercedes said the transmission offers quick gear changes and a sporty driving style. But if you’re looking for relaxed long-distance driving, the compact SUV also comes with comfort-oriented gear changes.
In terms of performance, the engine has an output of 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.2 seconds. Engine power is similar to that of the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic, but the GLB 35 is slower in just 0.5 seconds.
Taking a look inside, there is no doubt that this vehicle is part of the AMG family with its visually accentuated interior that comes with sport seats upholstered in black Arctic man-made leather and Dinamica microfiber, Nappa leather steering wheel, carbon frame trim and AMG floor mats.
Other than that, you also get the Mercedes-Benz Experience infotainment system (MBUX) which consists of two 10.25 ”displays with AMG-specific delays complemented by a Burmester surround sound system. It also comes with an LTE module for Mercedes me connected services. Also, it comes with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For added cabin comfort, the GLB 35 offers dual-zone thermotronic climate control with rear vents and power front seats with memory function.
Not forgetting the safety features, you get a reversing camera along with the Active Park Assist with Parktronic. Other features include blind spot assist, remote engine start, a tire pressure monitoring system, and active lane keep assist, which is not present on non-AMG GLBs.
Pricing and availability
The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic sells for RM363,136.52, which is on the road without insurance and also takes into account the sales tax relief (SST) that will run until the end of the year. The GLB 35 can be purchased through Mercedes-Benz Agility Financing from RM3,631 per month.
In terms of colors, you can choose from seven selections: digital white, iridium silver, cosmos black, galaxy blue, denim blue, mountain gray and designo patagonial red, which will cost you an additional RM8,000.
