MELAKA: The Melaka Health Department has filed a police report on fake agents who have allegedly taken people’s contact information from Covid-19 contact tracing log books.

The chairman of the state health and anti-drug committee, Rahmad Mariman, said the imitators showed authority cards to the owners of the facilities before taking the log books that were kept at the entrance.

“They do not have the right to review the log books and these scammers also had the audacity to replace the log books with new ones and post fake posters on the premises after removing the existing ones,” he said on Monday (September 7).

Rahmad said that the poster with a fake logo of the Ministry of Health also had a signature verified by a so-called “Local District Councilor.”

“We don’t know who this local district councilor is. We have never heard of this position before, ”he said.

Rahmad called on the facility owners to be cautious if certain people approach them.

“Only police officers and the Department of Health have the right to review the log books,” he said.

The police also confirmed that business owners had reported the fake agents visiting their outlets.
