KUALA LUMPUR, January 12: Media organizations can continue to produce informational programs, news, articles and local content for the public in areas enforced with the 14-day Movement Control Order (MCO), which begins tomorrow.
However, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said in a statement today that media operations in the form of other broadcasts, such as entertainment, were not allowed during the period.
He said that for states under the Conditional Motion Control Order (CMCO) and Recovery Motion Control Order (PKPP), media operations can continue in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“The media personnel, who are among the avant-garde of the country during this difficult situation, are reminded to continue complying with the SOPs that are established in the performance of their functions, to protect themselves, as well as for the safety of their families and communities from the threat of COVID-19, ”Saifuddin said.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin said that more details on standard operating procedures can be found with regard to the communications sector (including telecommunications and the Internet, broadcasting, as well as mail and courier), information technology, commerce Electronic and Creative Industries on the ministry’s website at ‘www.kkmm.gov.my’ or by contacting the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) hotline at 03-89115351 (8:00 am to 10:00 pm).
The recently announced MCO, which takes effect from tomorrow (January 13) to January 26, involves Penang, Selangor, the Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah.
