CYBERJAYA: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to implement a significant change in its operating model and people culture, centered on the call for transparency, accountability and integrity.

This comes after Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s New Years message of “Moving Forward to 2021.”

In a statement issued today, MDEC President Datuk Rais Hussin (pix) said that the MDEC fully supports the minister’s call.

“Our ‘Reinvent’ agenda is crucial to injecting new ideas, enthusiasm and skills. If we are to realize our vision of Malaysia 5.0 and establish Malaysia as the heart of digital ASEAN, there must be a paradigm shift in our approach, ”he said.

The reinvention of MDEC will include bringing in exceptional talent with new approaches and thoughts, and this will intensify MDEC’s initiatives to grow the nation’s digital economy, especially to navigate the disruptions and opportunities unprecedented in the new norm.

He pointed out that the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) has the power to bring society into the information age, where society is at the center of technology and data is decentralized under the control of its creators to innovate and even monetize. .

“We hope that this mission of making Malaysia 5.0 a reality will be a significant step in bringing the digital economy for many and shared prosperity for all in 2021 and beyond,” he added.

Following its restructuring, he stated that MDEC will now focus on four key axes: Digital Talent, Digital Business, Digital Investments and Digital MDEC.

“This will drive high-impact digital reach and results for our society and economy.”
