PETALING JAYA: Those returning home from Sabah after they have been ordered to the polls to undergo Covid-19 screening at points of entry.
In a statement, the director general of health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said that, taking into account the current situation, it is necessary to implement measures to prevent and control the transmission of Covid-19 infection by people with a travel history. to Sabah.
From September 27 to October 10, everyone arriving from Sabah will be screened.
These travelers must also undergo home quarantine for two weeks to ensure they are virus-free.
He said those who complete their quarantine will receive a “home release order” if the Covid-19 test comes back negative.
“If someone experiences respiratory symptoms within 14 days of returning home, they must undergo another Covid-19 test,” he said, adding that those returning from Sabah are exempt from paying Covid-test fees. 19.
He also said that a permission letter will be issued for people using public transportation, such as taxis or Grab, to return home.
This decision to conduct testing and quarantine was made after an increase in the number of active cases reported by those returning from Sabah.
“Eleven new cases reported on the peninsula today were from those returning from Sabah,” said Noor Hisham, adding that 10 active cases were reported between September 20 and 25.
