Manchester United boss Ed Woodward could fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unless results improve, reports say. And while he thinks it would be like ‘shooting Bambi’, he has included Liverpool’s decision to ditch Kenny Dalglish in 2012. The Red Devils have struggled earlier this season, losing two of their first three games of the season. Premier League.

Manchester United gave Solskjaer the job permanently in March 2019 after having enjoyed an excellent career as acting boss.

The Norwegian returned to Old Trafford to replace José Mourinho and immediately put the players on their side, lifting a dressing room that felt flat before his arrival.

Last season, United recovered from a shaky start under Solskjaer to finish third in the Premier League table, while also reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

This period, however, the Red Devils have struggled so far.

United have lost to Crystal Palace and Tottenham and were lucky enough to beat Brighton, who hit the wood five times during their showdown at Amex Stadium.

Rodgers, although he did not win the Premier League title, improved the club before being replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October 2015.

And that’s why United could pull the trigger on Solskjaer’s reign, especially with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino waiting behind the scenes.

Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Tottenham last year, months after leading the Spurs to the Champions League final.

And there are some within United who would like the Argentine to take over if worst comes to worst.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, expert Tony Cascarino expressed his belief that United should pick Marco Bielsa over Pochettino.

Premier League Deals – Every Transfer Confirmed in the Summer Window

The Argentine has done wonders at Leeds United, guiding him back to the Premier League earlier in the year.

And Cascarino said after Palace’s defeat: “I was watching Leeds in the previous game, and then watching Man United at 5:30 pm and I thought, ‘maybe United need something different.’ Not players, but maybe they need Bielsa.

“I’m looking at Man United and I think they do the exact opposite of what Leeds does: they don’t take risks.

“When Ole does well, and has done well in a few games, they are offensive and attacking and dangerous from many parts of the team.

“But yesterday they were tired, careless and never had anything to represent Manchester United.”
