Chris Kamara says Liverpool have already set the standard that the rest of the Premier League aspires to this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s team have already achieved impressive victories over Chelsea and Arsenal this season, and neither team in London has been able to worry the Reds.
Speaking to Footstock, Kamara argued that Manchester City’s 5-2 loss to Leicester shows how far Liverpool are from the rest.
He said: “It is clearly a concern that Manchester City sent five goals against Leicester last weekend, but we must not forget that we are very early in the season.
“We are still in a strange world in terms of football and if you look back when we started after the lockout, the level of play was not as good as what we are seeing now.
“During that time most of the players were getting used to the lack of atmosphere behind closed doors, but now it’s a different matter, as Liverpool’s game against Arsenal shows.
“In terms of quality, I don’t think it would have been much better with a full house and that’s the standard the city should aspire to.
“Obviously they have gone and spent more money on a center-back and Pep hopes that will work, but it must be said that, as things stand, Liverpool are the favorites to retain the title.
