KUALA LUMPUR: A 58-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a woman in Desa Petaling.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the man had assaulted the 27-year-old victim in a condo parking lot in Desa Petaling on December 16.
“We believe it was caused by a misunderstanding between the two people.
“The suspect was arrested the same night and charged the next day under Section 323 of the Penal Code for assault,” he said when contacted on Friday (December 18).
The suspect, who runs a restaurant, has been convicted and fined RM2,000 for the crime, it added.
A Facebook post, allegedly from the victim detailing how she was scared for her life during the ordeal, has gone viral.
He claimed that he had honked the suspect when he was blocking it in his parking spot at the condo.
The victim alleged that the suspect got angry and reprimanded her before punching her in the face.
She told her father about the incident before alerting the police.
He also wrote that his father exchanged angry words with the suspect before the police arrived and detained him.
The victim went for a medical checkup that cleared her of any concussion from the assault.
