MANCHESTER UNITED will offer Jadon Sancho the opportunity to follow in legendary footsteps by wearing the famous No7 jersey at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The Red Devils are desperate to land the 20-year-old in a deal that would be worth £ 100 million north.

And as a sweetening finale to close the deal, the Mirrors claim that United will give Sancho one of the most famous jersey numbers in English football.

The No7 shirt at Old Trafford is legendary, and has been worn with aplomb by so many greats over the years.

George Best, considered by many to have seen him play as the best Red Devil in history, succeeded in the iconic jersey in the 1960s.

And they have been followed by Bryan Robson, David Beckham and Eric Cantona, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, since Cr7 left United in 2009, they have struggled to find players matching the number to use it.

Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia, Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay have struggled to live up to the legend in that period.

But Sancho would surely be different.

SunSport recently revealed that United believes they have pretty much agreed on every detail of the personal terms with the former Manchester City marvel.

Agreeing a rate with Borussia Dortmund will be more difficult as BVB wants to link Sancho with a new contract.

But, resigned to probably losing their star man, the Bundesliga giants reportedly agreed to let him go if United breaks his transfer record and pays more than £ 100 million.

Sancho has been a revelation in Germany, scoring 14 goals and assisting 16 others in 23 Bundesliga appearances this season.

He is friends with his teammate from England, Marcus Rashford, who has given him excellent criticism.

United No10 has informed boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Sancho is “decent” and “trustworthy” as well as a fan of his work at United.
