Manchester United need four new signings to play in the Premier League, according to former Red Devils forward Louis Saha.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team has had an uneven start to the 2020-21 season, beating PSG and RB Leipzig in the Champions League, but also losing three of their seven Premier League matches.

Man United rallied for a vital victory over Everton on Saturday, but Saha acknowledges that the team is still a long way from competing for the titles.

January signing Bruno Fernandes has already established himself as one of the club’s biggest players, but Saha says it will take four such signings to make Manchester United a title challenger.

He told Stadium Astro: ‘The focus is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but you also have to look at recruiting.

“Some new signings like Fred, you can see the quality but it’s not going to make a difference.

‘The signature of [Bruno] Fernandes, you need four of them. You need four of them to really compete and this is what is missing.

‘You need to know the mentality of the new players. I want players there who want to win the Champions League and win great trophies. This is what is required here. ‘

Solskjaer was under enormous pressure before Manchester United’s clash against Everton, but his team impressed by beating Everton 3-1.

Speaking after the win, Solskjaer said: ‘The starting time set us up to fail. We’ve been to Turkey, we played a lot of games this season, we came back Thursday morning and we played Saturday lunchtime, it’s an absolute disaster.

‘We come back on Thursday morning at 4 am, what’s the problem with playing on Sunday?

“Take care of the players, we already have too many injuries in the Premier League, not only my players but also others.”
