Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told his team not to be distracted by talks about the title.

United may cement their place in the Premier League trophy race with a win over Leicester at King Power Stadium on Boxing Day, but Solskjaer warned his players not to get carried away.

“There is noise around Man United anyway, so for us it’s about improving as a team, taking one game at a time and we have to do it, that’s the name of the game,” said the United manager.

“That’s the only way you’re going to challenge for anything at the end of the season anyway, so it’s not something we talk about.

“The only thing we talk about and what we focus on is getting better day by day and learning and how to deal with certain situations and maybe right now we are getting praise and that’s something else to learn to deal with.”

United are in good shape after winning six of their last seven league games and booking a Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City with a 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday.

Anthony Martial came off the bench to score second at Goodison Park and Solskjaer said the French international is returning to his best after a difficult start to the season.

“He has made significant contributions lately, he has attended, he has scored goals and is getting fitter and fitter,” said Solskjaer.

“He showed against Leeds, and he knows I’m with him on this, and his career stats from that game set a new standard for him that I want to see more of.

“He’s always going to have quality and maybe his confidence has been hurt a bit by what happened earlier in the season with the red card. [against Tottenham] and he’s had some criticism but Anthony will get better and better and when we get Mason [Greenwood], Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony shooting full blast, we’ll be more of a threat to the teams. “
