KEPALA BATAS (Bernama): The police have arrested three people who are believed to have stolen a police patrol vehicle from the Seberang Perai Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD) here.

The vehicle, which disappeared on Saturday (October 24) evening, was found in Shah Alam, Selangor, early Monday (October 25).

According to a source, two brothers, 28 and 32, fled with the vehicle, a minivan, after claiming they were policemen from the information technology resources division and were there to check the vehicle’s dash cam.

“It happened very quickly and within minutes, the men were outside the IPD compound, raising no suspicions,” he said.

He said the supervisor (a police officer with the rank of sergeant), only realized that the vehicle had been stolen half an hour later when the suspects did not return to the IPD and could not be reached.

The vehicle was found several hours later in Shah Alam, Selangor and the police arrested a male suspect, as well as a woman in her 20s, believed to be his girlfriend, who were in the car.

After the arrest, the younger brother of the first suspect was detained in Tasek Gelugor.

“Investigations found that the suspect had initially picked up his girlfriend at Tasek Gelugor, and the couple is believed to have tried to rob a grocery store before driving Shah Alam,” he said, adding that the suspect stole the car to impress. . his girlfriend.

Police investigations also found that the main suspect had been arrested on October 15 for stealing power lines and that both brothers had criminal records, including drug convictions.

According to the source, the brothers were drug addicts and investigations also revealed that the main suspect who fled with the MPV has mental health problems.

Meanwhile, SPU District Police Chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor, when contacted, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing under Section 379A and 170 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
