IPOH: A man was found dead in a car at the Tapah Rest and Relax (R&R) stop (heading south) this morning.

A spokesman for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said they were alerted at 11:30 a.m. that the victim had been trapped in a Honda Jazz car.

“A team from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene and upon arrival it was found that the car’s engine was not working,” he said today in a statement here.

“With the help of special tools, the victim was taken from the car, but a health team confirmed his death,” he said, adding that the victim was identified as 26-year-old Ng Kar Weng.

The rescue operation ended at 12.12 noon and the body was handed over to the police for further action.

Meanwhile, Tapah District Police Chief Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said inspection on the car found that a charcoal pot on the floor in the rear had caught fire.

“Upon questioning the father of the victim, it was found that the victim, who was still single and working as a car painter, lived alone in a condo in Menglembu, Ipoh and did not share any of her problems with her family,” he added.

However, he said, there were no injuries or criminal elements in the incident, and the case had been listed as sudden death. – Called
