IPOH: A man was found dead in a car at the Tapah Rest and Relax (R&R) stop (southbound).
A spokesman for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said they were alerted at 11:30 a.m. yesterday that the victim was locked in a Honda Jazz vehicle.
“A team from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene and discovered that the car’s engine was not working,” he said in a statement.
“With the help of special tools, the victim was removed from the car, but a health team confirmed his death,” he said, adding that the victim was identified as 26-year-old Ng Kar Weng.
The rescue operation ended at 12.12 hours and the body was handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, Tapah District Police Chief Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the inspection of the car found that a charcoal pot on the rear floor had caught fire.
“Upon questioning the father of the victim, it was found that the victim, who was still single and working as a car painter, lived alone in a condominium in Menglembu, Ipoh, and did not share any of her problems with her family,” he said.
Wan Azharuddin added that there were no injuries or criminal elements in the incident and that the case was classified as sudden death. – Bernama
