KOTA KINABALU: A man died while his wife was seriously injured after their car skidded before falling off an overpass at Jalan Kepayan, near Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), last night.
In the 10:10 p.m. incident, the 51-year-old man was thrown out of the car against the wall of the overpass and later confirmed to have died at the crash site.
His 35-year-old wife is believed to be still inside the car when she fell from the overpass and sustained serious injuries.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Habibi Majinji said the proton saga the pair were in was believed to have skidded, before crashing into the wall and falling off the overpass.
“The medical team confirmed that the male victim had passed away, while the wife was taken to Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospital,” he said.
Habibi said further investigations are underway under Section 41 (1) of the Highway Transportation Act of 1987.
