BUTTERWORTH (Bernama): A man was seriously injured and lost his left thumb when his friend cut him off with a sword, allegedly for flirting with the suspect’s girlfriend at Telok Air Tawar.
Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that in the 6 p.m. incident on Aug. 31, the suspect, a 20-year-old self-employed worker, called the 28-year-old victim at his home. in Permatang Tok Brain before attacking him with the sword.
“The suspect cut off the victim’s left thumb. The victim’s hand was also injured while trying to protect himself,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (September 2).
Noorzainy said the suspect fled the scene and that the victim who contacted police for help was sent to Kepala Batas Hospital for treatment.
“After a tip and the information gathered, the police managed to locate the suspect and arrested him around 5 am on Tuesday (September 1) in Butterworth and seized the sword used in the incident,” he said, and He added that the man had a criminal and drug record.
The suspect is in preventive detention for four days and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
