Malaysian cinemas ready to screen ‘Mulan’ and other films starting in July

International films that were archived due to the Covid-19 pandemic are slated to return to theaters starting in July.

Live action movie Mulan, previously set for release in March, will now launch on July 23. In the same way Black widow, the Marvel movie that would have successfully started this year’s summer blockbusters, opens on November 5 in Malaysia. But not all the films were postponed. The new movie in the Hallowe’en franchise, Halloween kills starring Jamie Lee Curtis, and Escape Room 2 It will launch near its original dates: October 15 and December 30, respectively.

The same goes for Monster hunter, a fantasy film based on the video game series of the same name, which hits theaters in Malaysia on August 27, a week earlier than in the United States.

One of the first international films to be screened in theaters in Malaysia will be the fifth film in the Purge franchise, which opens on July 9.

Meanwhile, some movies like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Raya and the last dragon and F9 – previously scheduled to launch this year – have been moved to next year.

If theaters in Malaysia don’t open in July at the latest, dealers said they will adapt accordingly.
