KOTA KINABALU (Bernama): Malaysia will not give in to any claims for Sabah, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (Photo).

He said Malaysia stands firm in its position not to engage in any issue related to Sabah sovereignty and will defend the state at all costs.

“Recently, there was a statement from the Philippines on how he wanted to draw a new map, which among others, will be included in his passport … I will make this short, we will not give in to this statement, Sabah remains in Malaysia, Sabah is part from Malaysia.

“Let there be no attempt to get Sabah out of Malaysia and let non-Malaysians try to claim Sabah as part of their territory either. We will never proceed with that, we will fight to defend Sabah,” he said on Saturday (Aug 29).

The Prime Minister emphasized this in his speech at a meeting with federal public officials at the Sabah International Convention Center here.

On August 27, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaafar said that the proposal to include Sabah and 200 miles of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) on a map in the Philippine passport is neither a new move nor an official position. of your government.

He said the matter was a proposal by a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Philippine House of Representatives to create a substitute bill to amend, replace, or abolish the Philippine Passport Act of 1996.- Bernama
