Since Apple published their price right after they were officially shown to the world, now the public already knows that the iPhone 12 Y IPhone 12 Pro Series the devices are coming to Malaysia. It’s really just a matter of when and the first indication that these new iPhones are on their way to our market would be their appearance in the SIRIM database.

Identifiable by its model name A2407, iPhone 12 Pro today received approval from our national standards agency based on the database. Interestingly, the iPhone 12 mini, listed as A239, has also appeared in the database, although the global launch of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series will only begin in November.

The database listing also showed that both devices have been certified to support 5G networks running at 700MHz and 3500MHz. However, this is not surprising as both are the main spectrum bands for the 5G network in Malaysia.

However, the 5G network in Malaysia is not yet accessible to the public. Furthermore, the 5G infrastructure in Malaysia is expected to be ready only in 2022 according to the JENDELA plan.

Therefore, you will not be able to use the 5G feature on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Series in Malaysia right out of the box. This is unless telcos decide to open up specialized 5G test areas for their customers, as U Mobile did last month.
