KUALA LUMPUR (Dec. 23): Malaysia imposed anti-dumping duties on certain flat-rolled steel products from China, South Korea and Vietnam for five years, its Ministry of International Trade and Industry said on Wednesday.

The tariffs on non-alloy steel flat rolled products plated or coated with aluminum and zinc come after an anti-dumping investigation was carried out on behalf of the domestic industry, the ministry said.

The investigation found that “the merchandise in question is being imported into Malaysia at a lower price than the sale price in the alleged countries,” it said in a statement.

The tax would range between 2.18% and 18.88% for Chinese products, between 9.98% and 34.94% for South Korean products and between 3.06% and 37 , 14% for Vietnam products.

The tariffs went into effect on December 12 and will be imposed until December 11, 2025.

Vietnam made a similar move on Wednesday, imposing tariffs on some Chinese cold-rolled steel coils or products, also for five years, starting on December 28.
