KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong hopes Malaysia can soon announce an air traffic bubble with Singapore and other bilateral partners.

This was one of the topics discussed during a courtesy visit of the Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, in Wee yesterday.

“We caught up and discussed a number of issues that need attention so that our two countries continue their people-to-people exchanges as soon as possible, despite continuing concerns about the pandemic.

“The tightly knit business communities on both sides urgently need to be able to move around with strict SOPs in place,” he said in a Facebook post last night.

Wee said they also discussed the Malaysia-Singapore 2.0 high-speed train project, as both sides approach the December 31 deadline to sign the deal.

He said the signing of the Johor Bahru-Woodlands RTS Link agreement on July 30 reflected a mutual commitment to boost bilateral ties.

Also present were the Deputy Minister of Transport, Hasbi Habibollah, and the Secretary General of the ministry, Isham Ishak.
