PUTRAJAYA,: – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is overseen by five independent panels to ensure that the agency is transparent without intervention from either party and ensures people’s trust in it.

Its chief commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki, said that the first panel is the advisory panel, which is responsible for advising the agency on policies and procedures, while the second panel is an operational evaluation panel, which monitors MACC cases. , including to give opinions on whether a case should be closed or reevaluated.

The third panel is the prevention and inspection panel that provides advice on prevention and education activities, while the fourth panel is the grievance committee, which monitors the misconduct of MACC officials.

“MACC accepts any complaint related to the misconduct of our officers, and we will investigate it,” he told Bernama in a special interview recently.

The fifth panel is the Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR), which looks at MACC’s annual performance and then presents it to the Prime Minister.

He said society wants MACC to serve efficiently, professionally and fairly in handling cases of corruption and abuse of power.

“I am not saying that we are perfect in the performance of our work, but MACC will do everything possible to solve any problem raised by people, such as in the case of river pollution and land invasion,” he added.

The MACC celebrated its 53rd anniversary yesterday (October 1). It was established in 1967 and initially known as the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) before becoming an independent commission in 2009.Called
