KUALA LUMPUR: Fugitive Goh Leong Yeong, also known as Alvin Goh, rented two rooms at a resort in Pahang to avoid detection, sources say.

The main suspect in a money laundering case had initially rented a room on the 24th floor of the complex before occupying a second room on the 10th floor on Monday (October 26).

Sources said Goh had been hiding in the compound for about a week, accompanied by a Chinese national, believed to be his girlfriend.

“He also recorded an eight minute and 39 second video on allegations that he was involved in a Macau scam and online gambling before sending the video to his friends and acquaintances,” the sources added.

It is believed that the video would be spread by his friends on social media if Goh was arrested.

“When he was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday (October 27), the video was detected on Facebook after it was shared by his friends,” the sources said. Goh, 32, has been in custody until October 29.

Since October 2, MACC has detained more than 20 people, including eight police officers and staff along with Goh and Addy Kanna.

They were arrested for alleged money laundering, as well as for being involved in currency and Macau scams run by a Chinese union.

On October 11, they were all released on MACC bail, but Addy Kanna and two other people were later detained by the police.

However, Goh fled the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

MACC chief Datuk Seri Azam Baki revealed that approximately RM101 thousand out of 736 bank accounts have been frozen, while cash in the amount of RM5 thousand along with 23 luxury vehicles and high-powered motorcycles have been seized by corrupters.
