Suarez has been on fire for Atletico Madrid ever since he was brutally abandoned by Barcelona … after quickly settling in and finding the chemistry with Diego Costa, he’s ready to get revenge on Bayern Munich tonight, AND show him his old team what he lost.
- Luis Suárez has scored six of six for the club and the country and he looks very sharp
- At 33, Barcelona decided they no longer needed him but Atlético wanted him
- The combination with Diego Simeone is a heavenly match for the Uruguayan
- He returns to the scene of the 8-2 humiliation of Bayern Munich with his new full-back
Six goals in six games for the club and the national team have returned the smile to Luis Suárez’s face after he was sent off from Barcelona at the end of last season.
It will expand further on Wednesday night if it can take a little revenge against Bayern Munich for turning its last game with Barca into an 8-2 nightmare two months ago.
Nothing will compensate for that exit from the Champions League. Suárez’s last goal for Barcelona was against possibly the best goalkeeper in the world. He ended up being the only rival to beat Manuel Neuer in the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final of the Champions League.
Luis Suárez looks happy again and is in sharp shape for Atlético de Madrid this season
Barcelona ditched Suárez after 8-2 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich
But his low shot past him in the 57th minute of that staggering quarterfinal in Lisbon in August was of no use. The form of Barcelona’s defeat only accelerated the need within the club to make a bold declaration of renewal, taking out veteran players and thereby bringing down a wage bill that was completely unsustainable.
In six years, Suárez had won 13 trophies and became Barcelona’s third all-time top scorer with 198 goals in 283 games. He deserved more than a phone call from Ronald Koeman, many argued, although the Dutch Barcelona coach has since explained that he was absent and that a face-to-face meeting was impossible.
Suárez did not blame Koeman, believing that the board had fabricated his departure, and not only out of financial need, but also because of his closeness to Lionel Messi.
Suárez has scored three goals and has given an assist so far for Atlético since signing.

The horizon looked bleak for Suarez at first. He likes the idea of playing in America one day, but not yet. He was hardly able to join Real Madrid, he was never likely to return to England and as he never bothered to obtain a Spanish passport while playing in La Liga, he was a non-EU citizen and therefore was unable to move quickly to Juventus.
What happened next was a semi-miraculous fall of all pieces: Juventus’ new coach, Andrea Pirlo, decided he wanted to sign Atlético de Madrid forward Álvaro Morata after having him as a teammate in 2015 Suddenly, the ocean opened up and Suárez had a clear path towards the arms of Diego Simeone.
The Argentine coach had always wanted to work with the Uruguayan. Age difference aside (Morata is 27, Suarez 33), I would take the prolific riot, Suarez over nature’s softest and not goal-hungry Morata any day of the season.
He was certainly happy with the change, and Suarez jumped for joy at not having to move his young family to another country.
He consulted his Uruguayan teammate Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann, both former Atlético players, about what it was like to play at the club, but never had much doubt that it was the perfect solution.
Suárez has been received by his new teammates with open arms and has entered the side
When Suárez scored last weekend in a 2-0 win over Celta de Vigo and Griezmann missed a great opportunity in the first half of Barcelona’s 1-0 loss to Getafe, it didn’t go unnoticed by fans of the Athletic who really did not forgive the latter for leaving and welcoming the former with open arms.
Suárez has also been accepted into the Atlético dressing room, where he has Uruguayans Lucas Torreira and José Giménez as a company. There has even been chemistry with Diego Costa, who may end up vying for his place, but it was played alongside him on Saturday when they combined for the first goal.
Suárez has no illusions that his career is coming to an end, but he always felt he had one more year in him at Barcelona and Wednesday night will not be just about revenge against Bayern, it will be an opportunity to remind him of your ex club what you can still do.
The Uruguayan understands that he does not have many years left at the top but he is still doing well
Suárez can show Barcelona what he’s missing and get revenge on Bayern
There are only three players who have scored more goals in their national leagues over the last decade than Suárez.
One is his former teammate Messi, another is the man who could have become his teammate if he had moved to Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo and the other is the center forward Robert Lewandowski faces tonight.
As those three are no longer in the spring of his career, but with three goals in 126 minutes so far for Atlético, one every 57 minutes which is a better start than those of Radamel Falcao, Sergio Agüero and Griezmann, he is showing it . it’s not winter yet.
